September 25th, 2021. The seasons have changed, and now fall weddings are in full swing! The air is crisper, the sun fades earlier, and the leaves are more vibrant. I’d be lying if I said fall isn’t my favorite season. Luckily, this wedding still provided us with some warmth and we could enjoy an outdoor ceremony & reception!
Delaney and Ryan’s love is electric. They have a chemistry that is like no other. They are always laughing together, always bringing out the best in one another, and are two of the kindest, most down to earth human beings. It was a joy to capture their day! I’m excited to share some of my favorite details and images from this autumn wedding. Let’s go!
Getting Ready
First off, the details. The details from this wedding were everythingggg. Delaney’s style is quite similar to my own: Boho, modern & elegant. The palette consisted of terracotta, rust & earthtones, and made for the ideal fall color scheme. Delaney made the majority of her decorations by hand, which added such a personal touch to the aesthetic. The ceremony and reception took place at Delaney’s parent’s house, making for the perfect backyard wedding!

The First Look
After the girls finished getting ready, we headed down the street to take some photos at a family friend’s farm. Delaney and Ryan’s first look was so sweet and intimate, and after having a few moments alone together, we took some portraits! Before you ask, no, I did not strategically pose the horse for these photos. He just decided to be the sweetest boy and wandered up while I was photographing. That is what I call luck, my friends.

The Ceremony
Outdoor ceremonies can always be a gamble (especially in the midwest), but fortunately, the weather was perfect! One of my favorite aspects of the ceremony was that Laney chose to have her mom walk her down the aisle. It was such a special moment, and something you don’t typically see. Laney and Ryan chose to write their own vows, and they were so beautiful! I always love when couples decide to do this, and it never fails to make me cry. But then again, it doesn’t take much. 😂

The Bridal Party
I loved this group! Everyone was so kind and respectful, but definitely knew how to have a good time. Honestly, that’s the best combo. Laney’s niece was the cutest flower girl ever. Because Laney and her niece have such a special bond, I really made it a priority to get a lot of candid photos of the two of them together.

The Reception
Being from Indiana, I love a good backyard party. This reception exceeded all my expectations! As I stated earlier, Laney made the majority of the decorations by hand. She has such an eye for style and design! Since the big day, she has made an instagram account documenting all of her creations. Give it a follow @laneyraedesign. 🙂

In Ryan’s family, it is a tradition that his mom performs an original song at each of her children’s weddings. She wrote and sang a song specifically for Ryan and Laney, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. It was so thoughtful, so heartfelt and so well done!

The rest of the night consisted of lots of dancing, drinks, food, and laughs. What else could you want? Laney and Ryan’s extroverted personalities really shine through in these images, which makes me so happy. They are a stranger to no one, and a friend to everyone.

Before I headed out for the night, I snuck out with Laney and Ryan for some sunset photos. This is always my favorite part of the day, and I think my couples really enjoy it, too! It gives them time to debrief, talk about the day, and just spend some alone time together (I mean I’m technically third wheeling, but still). Golden hour is my FAVORITE time to shoot. The light is always so soft, and an Indiana sunset never fails to deliver the dreamy, golden, earthy images that I drool over.

I’m so honored Laney and Ryan trusted me to capture their wedding, it was a dream. On my drive home from a long day, I always am humbled and filled with gratitude that I get to call this my full time gig. I’m grateful for all of my couples who continuously trust me to tell their story in a way that is authentic and true to them. Laney and Ryan, thank you for trusting me. I love you both and wish you all the best! Cheers!
